J. Raymond Dunlap papers, 1932-1976.

The J. Raymond Dunlap collection includes photographs of Dunlap as a United Airlines manager and memorabilia of Leon Cuddeback who flew for Varney Air Lines on the first private mail service from Washington to Nevada in 1926. Included in the collection is an autobiographical sketch of Cuddeback, entitled "Cuddeback recalls Pasco - Boise - Reno flight" which he wrote at age 77 on the fiftieth anniversary of the 1926 flight. There are black and white photographs of the anniversary celebration as well. First flight envelopes, correspondence, official itineraries, newspaper clippings, marketing posters, commemorative souvenirs, airlines publications, and other items related mainly to United Airlines are included in the collection.

J. Raymond Dunlap was a district traffic manager and district sales manager for United Airlines in Denver, Colorado, who retired in 1969. During his service with United Airlines he collected some memorabilia, including items from the early Varney Air Lines, founded by Walter Varney after World War I.
